Our NZSki community has been growing since 1947 and continues to offer the best experience for our crew, locals, and guests alike. Everyone at Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Mt Hutt cares for the mountains and shares a passion for snowsports and the surrounding regions. Our success is due to our awesome customer service, first-class facilities, majestic scenery, and wild terrain.
In order to join our exceptional team of ski area hosts, you will need to be a jack of all trades with a winning smile and a focus on taking ownership of the customer experience! Our hosts are the friendly, fluid and dynamic, helpful faces of our mountain who can work independently, juggling a number of queries whilst engaging with our guests and on the lookout to handle any situation which pops up across the mountain!
The Remarkables recognises that each of our guests is unique and our Hosts provide personal attention to the individual needs of our guests.
About the role
- Communicating effectively with the rest of the admin department (this includes the HOD, team leader, admin assistants, mountain hosts and custodians) to ensure the smooth running of the team.
- Confident and clear language while using a 2-way radio
- Meeting, greeting and farewelling our guests and assisting our guests in the drop zone/car park at the start and end of each day
- Orientating and familiarising customers to our mountain facilities and service
- Clear communication with our transport team (drivers and dispatch). Helping guests unload or load buses and drivers hand out/receive equipment.
- Thinking ahead if it’s a busy day, setting up the indoor/outdoor stanchions mid-afternoon to help manage the queue control at the end of the day when guests are waiting for their bus.
- Lighting and keeping the indoor open fireplace stocked up and going with wood throughout the day
- Lending a hand whenever possible. This will include helping out fellow team members with shovelling and clearing snow, salting ice, changing recycling and rubbish bins, plus much more. Can do, helpful attitude and energy is a must!
- Frequently assisting the rentals, retail and food and beverage departments. Also, help our lift department with lunch cover with an hour a day outside at a drive station.
- Performing media-related tasks such as basic photography and filming
- Chaperoning and wearing our mascot suits to bring our mountain mascots to life
- Ensuring our guests and departments are aware of /and are involved in the various activities occurring on the mountain
- Custodian and cleaning related duties
- This role also has the potential to help the ever-evolving Admin and Events department. Specifically, help snowmobile event equipment and or event organisers around the mountain plus set up racecourses and PA equipment out on snow. This part of the job description is still being worked out and not a guaranteed part of the role.
About You
You will be one of the first points of contact and an ambassador for our mountain. By sharing your passion for The Remarkables and snowsports, you will play an extremely important role in assisting us to make winter legendary for our guests. We want our guests excited, telling all their friends about us, and planning their next winter experience with The Remarkables before they leave!
